I was searching online for a local master’s-degree program when I came across Simpson University’s Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership. I know others who have done undergraduate and graduate programs at Simpson and had a great experience.
It is so exciting to be part of a program than enhances my personal growth along with my professional development.I was excited to discover the program, as it offered an opportunity to obtain my M.A. locally, with much of the work online (we have in-person classes as well, so the personal relationships we develop are simply enriched online). The non-profit management emphasis was right up my alley, since I presume I will be working in that sector for much of my career. A great thing is that the organizational leadership part of the program will prepare you for either that or for for-profit work.
The most rewarding thing about the MAOL program is the real-life application of the subjects we study in the classroom. I work full-time at a non-profit and often share with others what I am learning because they are skills we could all benefit from. It is so exciting to be part of a program than enhances my personal growth along with my professional development.
Having a master’s degree that focuses on both leadership and non-profit management will pay dividends into my future. I have a goal of starting a non-profit that facilitates affordable transitional housing for those caught up in the struggles of life (addiction, homelessness, domestic violence, etc.). I see the things I am learning in the graduate program as a way to launch the dreams God has given me into reality.
I would recommend the MAOL program to others who are looking to learn about themselves and how to be a leader in the world today. It is great for those who are looking to expand their skills and knowledge, with the opportunity to apply their learning to their current position.
